DEI never intended to create a situation where each subdivision of the population was represented throughout in exact proportion to its statistical share. It was always designed to turn Americans against themselves and thus make them easier to rule. It has succeeded to a remarkable extent. Every authoritarian regime has had to identify a scapegoat section of the population. For the Nazis, it was the Jews. For our current leaders it is "white supremacists" (with the not-so-subtle subset that, obviously, every white is a "supremacist'). The disenchantment of the corporate world with DEI is encouraging. But much irredeemable harm has been done. For the public in general, the penny hasn't quite dropped yet. Biden has 42% approval.
