The Discreet Charm of the Deep State
Trump supporters must understand there will be life after his presidency, especially with the deep state and mainstream media pushing his demise. If Trump leaves after delivering on many campaign promises, it will be his greatest gift to conservatives. Remember, the founding fathers envisioned citizen statesmen, rather than today's entrenched political pigs, who only seem to leave after sexual misdeeds are exposed.
The term “deep state” is a new, conservative term for an invisible bureaucracy that is neither elected nor accountable. The sinister-sounding term is popular with conservative pundits, such as Sean Hannity and Lou Dobbs, who know Washington’s bureaucracies are ubiquitous and forever. However, try running the USA without bureaucrats. Most consider themselves just federal employees - with 9-to5 jobs, as well as families and friends - and I doubt Hannity or Dobbs could identify a federal bureaucrat ordering coffee at a Washington Starbucks.
To be sure, the deep state needs to be held accountable: people appointed to invisible jobs are almost always double-edged swords. For example, long-time FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover abused his power to surveil Americans in order to collect embarrassing information (such as Dr. Martin Luther King’s infidelity). However, every conservative pundit knows mobsters and terrorists would thrive in the USA if not for the FBI, even though the deep state appears to have abused its power to spy on Americans.
Republican congressional leaders should get the facts: how and why did the deep state spy on Trump, and who leaked information to the press? Furthermore, libertarians should be outraged by the FBI raid on the office and residence of Trump’s lawyer. Apparently, the deep state sought information about money paid to porn star Stormy Daniels and money received from a Ukrainian oligarch. So, what? After the Billy Bush video, anyone with half a brain knew Donald Trump was a lecherous swordsman - - and Trump is an aggressive global brand (even in former Soviet states).
Let’s consider the porn star Daniel’s allegation that she slept with a married Trump. Somebody should at least call her character – and credibility – into question. She accepted $130,000 not make her allegation public – but went public anyway. She claims Americans must know Trump was an unfaithful husband – even though she cheated with him. Plus, she did not just do a “nude scene” in a movie (google image search her – whoa!). After the Steel dossier (golden showers) and Stormy Daniels, I am beginning to think the FBI is over-sexed and under-relevant when it comes to this president.
Now consider the $150,000 charitable donation from Ukrainian steel magnate Victor Pinchuk in 2015. For the record, Pinchuk has given $13 million to the Clinton Foundation since 2006, including while Hillary was secretary of state. In reality, there is no big moral distinction between a Ukrainian oligarch and a Greenpeace, Planned Parenthood or NRA oligarch (oligarchy defined as a small group of people having control of a country or organization). An oligarch’s threat to America depends largely on one’s political view.
The USA has 325 million (mostly legal) residents and a $19.5 trillion (mostly legal) economy. The scale of America is beyond any bureaucracy’s ability to understand or control, meaning the deep state does not have complete control over anything. Therefore, the deep state plays king of the hill, targeting companies and individuals with ever-changing regulations and re-interpreted statutes. In this case, the individual is a sitting and fairly-elected president, and the company is the president's family business.
Obviously, Donald Trump is no boy scout, but is it a good thing to indict the clear winner of a presidential election because he paid a porn star to desist from making infidelity allegations? If this scheme succeeds in running Trump out of town, then you can bet the next Democrat will get the same treatment – and it will trickle down to every town council. It should bother every American – regardless of political stripe – that Obama’s deep state operatives leaked before leaving office, and now trash Trump as former cops and spies: a horrible precedent is being set.
Victor Pinchuk might be a Russian mobster for all I know, but what did his $150,000 donation buy him? The stench surrounding the money is that it came from a “Ukrainian oligarch.” If that is the line of thinking, then let’s go after every politician and charity that Volkswagen and Wells Fargo supported – because those two corporations tried to secretly pollute America’s air and bilk America’s citizens. Where are the resistance banners and marchers when real foxes are in America’s hen house?
I am prepared to see Trump run out of Washington. It might even be an act of justice that has my full support. I just think it is wrong for Democrats to promote the impeachment of the first entrepreneurial businessman to ever be elected president – just as it was wrong for the Tea Party to suggest the impeachment of the first black president. The USA would be a stronger democracy if out-party politicians exercised professionalism by accepting the outcomes of elections. Above all, the USA would be a stronger nation if cops and spies kept their snouts out of politics.
