The Collusion Backpedal
President Trump has enlisted former New York mayor, Rudi Giuliani, to help Robert Mueller work towards a face-saving end to the resistance-driven investigation. While there was some initial smoke (Trump had done business in Russia and spoke a little too admiringly about Putin), the accumulating evidence has all but exonerated the president of colluding with Russia. Now, it appears rather obvious the collusion shoe was on the other (Democrat) foot all along.
With the exception of dazed and confused Democrats, such as Maxine Waters and John Brennan, most of the resistance has returned to their (paying) day jobs. Gone are the days of the giddy mainstream media coverage of Jeff Session’s conversation with a Russian ambassador and the hopeful buzz surrounding the appointment of a special counsel (Mueller) to link Trump to Vladimir Putin. After one year, Session’s primary antagonist, Senator Al Franken (D-MN), has been ousted for serial sexual aggression, and Mueller has only indicted 13 Russians with zero American “knowing participants.”
I am convinced Democrats are realizing Trump is a political third rail. No surprise because the man as much as said so: “You hit me, I hit you back.” The anti-Trump obituary already includes Hillary Clinton, James Comey, Kathy Griffin, Al Franken, Matt Lauer, and Andrew McCabe. Even Angela Merkel has been mostly neutered and mighty quiet of late.
Lanny Davis, a blind Clinton loyalist, blames the Trump victory on James Comey’s October 28 announcement the FBI was re-opening the Clinton email investigation, and Comey now admits he made the announcement based on his assumption Hillary would win. Is it even possible to be as stupid as these two Washington insiders? For the last time, Democrats nominated a candidate being investigated for a felony crime, providing Trump with his primary talking point: Crooked Hillary.
In place of Trump’s Watergate moment, America has learned that Hillary Clinton bought control of the DNC, screwed Bernie Sanders, and financed a deep state operation that executed a botched Spygate on Trump. This explains her low approval rating of 27%, which is much worse than other president wannabes Gore, Kerry, McCain and Romney. Yes, and Hillary finally gets it: “I knew it. I knew this would happen to me: they (the American people) were never going to let me be president. You know, I am getting pretty tired of hearing about how nobody likes me.” Yes, Hillary, nobody likes a liar or a crook, and you were the Daily Double.
Clinton-Obama loyalists, from Susan Rice to Andrew McCabe, are steadily being uncovered as probable accessories to a conspiracy to de-legitimize a fairly elected president. McCabe slow-walked the FBI discovery of Clinton emails on Anthony Weiner’s computer, which invited James Comey’s Clinton campaign-harming announcement. Obama’s national security advisor, Susan Rice, has admitted to uncovering names – after first claiming not to know anything about the surveillance or unmasking. She is one Inspector General revelation away from being referred for criminal indictment.
Attorney General Loretta Lynch was outed by Comey for pressuring him to call the Clinton felony investigation a “matter” – and who believes her tarmac conversation with Bill Clinton was a chance meeting? Assistant Deputy Attorney General Bruce Ohr has twice been demoted since his role in the Russian dossier was uncovered and his wife found to be a Fusion GPS employee. This is all true, and don’t get me started on those texting FBI lovebirds Strzok and Page or their anti-Trump insurance policy.
The smarter members of the resistance are now putting some distance between their previous public charges of Russian collusion and their current (and proper) partisan concerns about immigration, de-regulation, tax cuts, North Korea, and global trade. This is wise because the deep state anti-Trump campaign might include the Obama White House, which would mean every Democrat that leaked collusion hearsay becomes a suspect in a real witch hunt. Just ask Debbie Wasserman Schultz how much fun she is having today.
Stupid tweets will not undo a booming Trump economy any more than marital infidelity undid the booming Clinton economy. Therefore, it is the wise pundit that backs off the collusion cacophony. A smart liberal (heh-heh-heh) now turns to time-tested anti-Republican themes. Trump is no friend to the green movement. He is a saber-rattling commander in chief, opposes universal health care and free college tuition, and speaks out against a free press. Liberals should oppose his policies and ignore the reality-show White House.
What happened to those liberals – the ones who were value-driven flower children? It now looks like too many sold out the cause to get their snouts in the Washington money trough. Those money-grabbing and power-hungry Democrats, if outed for an anti-Trump conspiracy that includes Clinton, will destroy moderate liberalism and pave the way for the extreme liberalism of Bernie Sanders. Bernie’s a nice guy, but his policies will be ruinous to the United States. And to think: Democrats could have just waited four more years.
