Unfortunately, Americans are not scared enough, often enough. The horrors of what is happening are not yet affecting their daily lives. And they have become apolitical. This is a by-product of a general disaffection with Washington and the political class. The pollsters will never ask the question - but if they did ask: "Do you think most politicians are a bunch of phony liars?" It would be 90/10 "Yes!"
