Get Out and Vote!
It is absurd: this notion that a vote for Democrats in the House and Senate will be a check on President Trump. This is the most intellectually dishonest offer I have ever heard. The pre-election polls agree on the four big issues on voters' minds, and I just don't see Democrats solving the issues.
Trump's un-presidential behavior, which embarrasses Americans and frightens foreign diplomats and heads of state. Does anyone honestly believe Nancy Pelosi or Chuck Schumer can rein in Donald Trump? If they try to censure him (for something like his post-Charlottesville comments), he will go on the mother of all tweet storms. If they subpoena him and his cabinet ministers - or bring up articles of impeachment - he will fight back and make 2020 a choice between investing in America or investigating him.
Health care, on which most Democrats are running. Of course, this is a "traditional" Democrat entitlements issue, but it was Republicans that got rid of the unpopular individual mandate and passed the "right to try" law that allows the terminally ill to try non-FDA-approved cures. Trump has also rushed as many generic drugs onto the market in 18 months than Obama did in the previous four years, saving consumers $26 billion through July of this year.
The booming economy, for which every American knows Trump gets credit. Even 38% of Democrats say it is Trump - not Obama - that created more jobs and lower unemployment, reduced the welfare and food-stamp roles, and is responsible for higher 401K values. Hey - if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it!
Illegal immigration, which is actually a divisive issue. Yes, some suburban women are turned off by Trump's mean-sounding comments, but there are equal numbers of suburban women who are frightened by MS-13.
Try to remember (and tell your friends) Trump is unconventional and that is what got NAFTA re-negotiated. Above all, vote your wallet or pocketbook.
