CNN's Most Embarrassing Moment
On Thursday, the free-thinking Kanye West held forth in the Oval Office, inciting a mean-spirited reaction from CNN's liberal pundits. Clearly, Mr. West’s conservative awakening frightened these black liberals, because they responded with hits below his belt and insults to his intelligence and sanity. This blog will always condemn the Left's tactics of personal destruction and defend a conservative’s right to speak out freely.
CNN’s Don Lemon, Bakari Sellers and Tara Setmayer circled West like sharks. I knew they would rip him to shreds when Lemon began by proclaiming his benevolence: “Listen, I have no animosity for Kanye West.” I quickly put on my Red Lobster bib before the long knives began hacking and hewing a man who simply has a different worldview.
Lemon: What I saw today was a minstrel show…this was an embarrassment…embarrassing himself…embarrassing African-Americans…he needs help…he has not been the same since his mother died…we’re watching someone’s demise in front of our eyes…a crazy m*therf*cker like Kanye West.
Sellers: Kanye West is what happens when Negroes don’t read…my issue with Kanye West is quite simple: anti-intellectualism simply isn’t cool.
Setmayer: He’s all of a sudden a model spokesperson? He’s the token Negro of the Trump administration…an attention whore, like the president. Black folks are about to trade Kanye West in the racial draft. Nobody should be taking Kanye West seriously…he clearly has [mental] issues [for which] he’s already been hospitalized.
After that absence of truth, kindness and necessity, I was relieved (not) these three had no animosity toward Mr. West. In fact, they hate Kanye West because he is the celebrity spokesman for the #walkaway movement, who undermines Democrats by exposing the real outcomes for black Americans as a result of the Clinton and Obama Presidencies. For example, here are two of his favorite statistics to share in public:
22 years later, the embarrassing result of Bill Clinton’s crime bill is it more than doubled the number of black incarcerations – many for simple drug possession.
10 years later, the embarrassing result of Barack Obama’s housing and mortgage policies is that 21.4% of black borrowers suffered home foreclosures (compared to 6.2% of white borrowers) and average black home equity is still $16,700 lower than 2007.
When Mr. West recites those embarrassing statistics, it angers card-carrying Democrats. In fact, that was the thrust of his Oval Office comments: “People expect that if you’re black you have to be a Democrat [but] welfare is the reason a lot of black people end up being Democrat. [I’m] a guy that looks up to [Trump], looks up to Ralph Lauren, looks up to American industry guys [that are] non-political, [who] just go in and gets [things] done.”
Why black-shame a black man for doing what privileged white males have been doing for years (i.e. emulate successful white businessmen) - or dumb-shame him for stating the obvious about Trump and the economy? I understand that Don Lemon is just a liberal windbag, but he embarrassed himself (with a reported net worth of $3 million) in his condescending dismissal of a self-made black businessman (with a reported net worth of $166 million). Dude, size (of wealth created) matters!
When listeners and viewers get past Kanye West’s stream-of-consciousness delivery, they realize the words of the prophets are written on the subway walls – and tenement halls. And, if white Paul Simon can value black street wisdom, these three black Americans should feel ashamed of themselves, because West's threefold message Thursday was this: (1) all blacks should feel the dignity of gainful employment, (2) all black sons deserve a powerful male presence in their lives – be it a biological father (which Kanye lost) or a successful white businessman (which Kanye found), and (3) the federal government must reduce black incarceration rates to make black America great again.
Don Lemon would be the crazy m*therf*cker, if he promoted someone like Al Sharpton as young black America's business role model. If Bakari Sellers thinks Kanye West’s lyrics are anti-intellectual, he never heard the song Power: Lost in translation with a whole fuckin’ nation - They say I was the abomination of Obama’s nation - Well, that’s a pretty bad way to start a conversation. As for Ms. Setmayer, she is too ridiculous to even re-consider.
Why is this kerfuffle even worthy of an article? In short, because we are seeing the DNC’s demise in front of our eyes and at their own hand. Just in the last two weeks, we have seen Democrats, their media cronies, and their paid operatives, trash the presumption of innocence, attack a black Republican for his freedom of opinion, and exploit school-age children to embarrass a senate Republican. The USA needs a responsible and patient opposition party as a check against President Trump. But no – Democrats are self-destructing in anger and hatred on their journey to become the modern Whig party.
